The government gives funds directly to apartment owners such as Shepard Apartments. The apartments lower the rents they charge to low-income tenants. It is up to the apartment owners to decide how many apartments are available here at the low cost apartment rate.

To qualify for these apartments, you can earn no more than the income limit which is specified by the apartment when you apply for vacancy.

Call or visit the Shepard Apartments management office to apply for openings. We urge you to call as most low income apartments nowadays have waiting lists. You will need to call them to find out current rates as they are also subject to change. We provide apartment rates where possible, but they are always subject to change as there are specials and other discounts available at different times of the year.

I've lived at Shepard for 23 years locked myself out of my place on accident and they helped me get access to my apartment despite losing my keys because they who work here give a damn about those they provide services for through the federal government. That's a big deal because it shows good intentions towards those you work your life's vocation to provide a service to, a service vital to the sustainment of life especially when you suffer from a mental health diagnosis. The folks who run this place and the two group homes associated with my apartment complex stive mightily to do the right thing each and every time they interact with us. Tonight after I lost my keys and at 11:30 when I was cold and out of ideas they dropped there time off to make sure I have a safe and comfortable environment so that my mental health remains totally alright. They bent over backwards and showed me the absolute highest level of respect coming to me in my time of greatest need shelter wise in the previous 23 years. Thanks Liz you and Christine you both are very much appreciated but this life of mine it's nothing like what I wanted to be but when you do things for me like you did this night it keeps me trying to act and behave well. Despite all that is wrong in this world good people exist and we work together to process anything that happens. Life here is great because we here stand together and when someone needs help we do our utmost all who live here to make things right for those who live here. I didn't have that skill when I came here 23 years ago but somehow this life taught it to me. And I'm only here alive because of this place and those who spend there professional lives working to this end. That I can see that there are people who really care and know how to behave that way is a huge help in this universe. Thank you so much I was gonna sleep in a sleeping bag I'm 30 degree weather but you came and helped in my hour of need and I wanted to thank you sincerely for your help.
